這篇托福TOEFL考試準備技巧是分享我教過的一位student案例～
從漫長煎熬的托福TOEFL準備過程到托福TOEFL test前的技巧衝刺全記錄。
從這邊開始就暱稱我這位學生蘇兄吧（他姓蘇，我跟他熟到稱兄道弟，亦師亦友）
而以下分享托福TOEFL的準備方法都是我依照蘇兄的狀況以及需求幫他規畫的，但我認為也適用於所有要準備托福TOEFL的人 （但還是需依照個人english程度調整）～無論是剛接觸托福TOEFL還是已經準備托福TOEFL一段時間，卻抓不到技巧訣竅的classmate，甚至是english level還停留在國中階段的，只要是托福TOEFL想考高分的同學都可以參考看看喔！

🔵 蘇兄的托福TOEFL成績：R 27／L 27／S 22／W 26／T 102
（托福口說一直都是蘇兄最弱的，有破20真的是最大的驚喜了XD）
🔵 蘇兄的perp time：某年5月初~10月中
（這期間我除了請他照著我制定的托福TOEFL讀書計畫走之外，我還有定期幫他批改托福TOEFL寫作的作文。）
先簡單介紹一下蘇兄的background：標準的理工系學生（←刻板印象？！），專業科目的成績非常傑出，但english level……嗯，只能說老天是公平的XD 因此蘇兄想到美國留學，就必須先通過托福TOEFL的嚴厲考驗！
由於蘇兄是位可造之材，態度很good，讀書又認真，也靜得下心來，因此我不斷鼓勵他english實力是可以透過努力累積的，要他對自己有信心，也特別幫他擬定了托福TOEFL study plan，讓他按部就班準備，希望蘇兄可以順利準備托福TOEFL並申請到good school～

我幫蘇兄大略制定的準備托福TOEFL study plan
【5月初～6月初】大約一個月的enlgish底子增強期
說明：不要去管托福TOEFL的test技巧，這一個月主要以增加english實力為主，也是暖身期，培養english語感，慢慢適應聽、說、讀、寫全english的環境。這個時期一定要特別嚴格，每天的english訓練菜單有什麼內容就要確實去做，因為一旦鬆懈變成半調子，後面準備托福TOEFL只會很painful而已！
準備托福TOEFL是一條lonely的路，而且萬事起頭難，唯有在一開始就下定決心，督促自己養成習慣，才能保持前進，達成戰勝托福TOEFL target！
🔵 準備托福TOEFL訓練內容
🔹 托福TOEFL聽力 listening
每天聽至少聽三篇TED或CNN student，跟托福TOEFL完全沒關係，純粹練listening，每篇聽三遍～
第一遍：不中斷地聽完，大概瞭解大意即可。
第二遍：拿出紙筆準備做筆記，把全部內容聽寫下來，不要懷疑就是全部！可按暫停以免跟不上，把不會的生字查一查，將整篇筆記消化。
第三遍：不要看筆記再聽一遍，哪裡還是聽不懂，就再翻筆記，反覆直到聽懂為止，listening跟做筆記一定要確實練習，在托福TOEFL考試中listening能力跟做筆記的技巧非常重要，平常就要多練習找出最適合自己的速記方式。
🔹 托福TOEFL口說 speaking
每天找五篇長篇英文文章來唸，任何內容皆可或直接找托福相關文章也OK，但建議不要太艱澀。主要是訓練發音還有唸英文要順，把english speaking基本的連接詞、形容詞、副詞、片語、慣用語等等跟邏輯模式，例如：數字的念法、論述列點的用法… 等等學起來，但還不需要從自己腦袋產出語句，先模仿別人優良的範文，把其中精華變成自己的東西。
何謂精華？就是把好用的句子（類似模版）記下來，但絕對不是抄襲內容喔！以下舉出example：
- In the lecture, the professor argues/ discusses/ demonstrates……
- To begin(start) with/ First of all, she/ he says that……
- What’s more/ In addition, she/ he mentioned that……
- Finally/ Lastly/ Last of all/ In sum, she/ he discusses that……
🔹 托福TOEFL閱讀 reading
托福TOEFL不考時事，但此時期以增強english reading實力為主，所以可以用english news來鍛鍊自己適應閱讀長篇english，剛開始（約前兩個星期）可以先看有中英對照的VOA（美國之音）跟BBC，進階之後，可以看NPR、The New York Time等等，除了english news，還可以看english雜誌如The Economist（經濟學人）、Science American。
🔹 托福TOEFL寫作 writing
此時期先練習英打速度，還不用靠自己產出english writing，一樣找english文章照打，目標是訓練到自己30分鐘要打完1000字，因為是拿現成文章照打，不用思考時間，所以時間內要打出的字數要比托福TOEFL正式考要多，托福TOEFL正式考的整合寫作20分鐘大約寫200字以上；托福TOEFL independent writing則是30分鐘寫300字以上。

【6月中～9月中左右】熟悉托福TOEFL test技巧
說明：這時期的準備首要先認識托福TOEFL這項考試及每大題的考試內容，接著一邊培養托福TOEFL實力一邊訓練托福TOEFL技巧。
🔵 準備托福TOEFL訓練內容
🔹 托福TOEFL聽力listening：
判斷考點，聽出值得做筆記的重點(main idea)，而不是從頭緊繃到尾，把沒用的info抄下來，只會擾亂自己的答題節奏，因此首先就是要先拆解lecture的結構，才可以知道哪裡是該抄筆記的地方。
Lecture結構：
▪ 開門見山說出主旨（ex. 教授說:我們今天要討論的是…），可能只有一句話，所以要非常專心聽，主旨必考，所以一定要抄下來。
▪ 引言，進入主題前的鋪陳，大多是沒用的資訊，聽過就好，不用抄筆記。
▪ 主題論述，重點來啦，這邊就是要作筆記的地方，但絕對不是要逐字逐句地全部寫下來，容易成為考題的內容例如：教授對於某個專有名詞或現象的解釋，以及接下來的舉例說明等等。
▪ 教授跟student的問答，這部份也要非常仔細聽，也是必考的考點，但很困難的一點是，大多會問學生及教授的心態或同學誤會或問問題的心情目的等等……這種比較主觀的問題，沒有一個客觀的事實可以當作依據，這就要靠整篇的情境跟前後文去推敲了，只能透過多做托福TOEFL考古題累積經驗判斷。
🔹 托福TOEFL口說 speaking
口說把握以下幾個重點多練習，分數就不會太差！
▪ 內容有logic
就是國小程度的「因為… 所以… 」，當題目問 Choose a place you go to often that is important to you and explain why it is important. Please include specific details in your explanation.
你如果回答（我隨便舉例）：我常常去的地方是公司，一星期至少要去五天，一天最少8小時，因為我必須賺錢以支付帳單維持生活，同時也是我的責任… 這樣講就符合logic。
▪ 不辭窮（停頓少、流暢）
要做到這點的練習方式為～多背同義詞互相抽換，能夠找到字去表達你要說的意思，不求用字或文法高深，但求精準與適當。所以平常背單字要連用法一起注意（多看例句），可不是知道意思跟會拼就好。
另外，講話時總是會思考而無法連續，可以運用語助詞來維持不中斷，讓聽的人不會覺得你是詞窮了。
▪ 有細節、實例(specific detail)
承上題：支付帳單維持life，例如：要繳房租、伙食費、水電費，都是生活必要的開銷……
就是把剛剛提到的理由原因再進行更深入的詳述。
🔹 托福TOEFL閱讀 reading
參加所有的english檢定test甚至只是平常自己看english文章時，reading務必要養成一個習慣「不要一看到生字就停下來查字典」！（但不是說不管生字，而是看到不認識的字先標註起來或寫進單字筆記本，最後再查意思）要學著不中斷地reading，然後練習從前後文去推論揣測單字的意思，這樣不只能有效率地練習reading，背單字也能背更牢，透過文意的連結更可以幫助記憶，比起直接拿托福TOEFL單字書來啃要有用多了～只是背單字前請先自行分類，有些單字需要用於speaking跟writing，所以要確實記住，用法也要很熟，有些刁鑽的單字在reading跟listening才會考，只要認得出來、知道發音即可，這樣才是聰明的背托福TOEFL單字方法喔！
再來，請practice略讀也就是抓重點看，具體來說就是跳過副詞、關代、介係詞片語，只看主詞跟動詞～
來舉例說明一下，往下看講解前，可以先自己practice：
Snapchat is best known for allowing users to send photo messages that are only meant to be visible to the recipient for a few moments.
Zack, who is also from Virginia, uses Snapchat to share his story with his friends and not with his family. He says his parents wouldn’t like what he has in his story and he fears his sister would tattle. When detailing some of his recent posts, they included a day with his buddy where they hung out with their girlfriends and ate at Chipotle.

你沒看錯，整段的重點只要抓這樣就好了，前面開頭的介紹通常不太重要，而後面那些補充細節如果考題有提到再回頭細看即可。
同學會發現考toefl托福閱讀reading常常對文章有一知半解的情形出現，但這並不會影響作答，因為托福TOEFL既考實力，也考技巧。
🔹 托福TOEFL寫作 writing
注意，練習時不要直接打在word裡，要強迫靠自己記憶精準的拼字，最後整篇打好再複製到word裡校對。
準備托福TOEFL寫作writing跟口說speaking一樣，請把握一個principle～多背同義詞互相抽換！
▪ 托福TOEFL整合寫作integrated writing
Reading Part
一樣把握reading原則，挑重點讀，但要注意，每段detail還是要掃過去，抓出地名、專有名詞等等，然後筆記下來，想一下發音，因為等等Listening Part可能會聽到。
Listening Part (lecture)
聽出每一段的主旨(main idea)是最重要的job，這就是 Writing Part 的開頭，再來就是重點擷取細節，note能寫多少就盡量寫，這些是在開頭之後的論述，至於模版網路上的資源很多，這裡就不多說，只是提醒everyone模版不必照抄，可用同義詞抽換，寫出自己習慣的content。
整合寫作integrated writing有一點非常重要！就是一定要連結 Reading Part 跟 Listening Part (lecture) 給的資訊，而不是 Reading Part 讀得很有把握就只寫這部分的內容（只有Listening Part聽得很清楚這樣），提醒準備托福TOEFL的同學們不要犯這個錯誤了～因為他是「整合」寫作嘛～
▪ 托福TOEFL獨立寫作independent writing
看到題目後第一件事就是立刻把每段大意先打出來，之後再每段分別去寫，這樣不容易迷失在茫茫English海裡，寫作速度也可以更快。舉一個題目來說：
You have enough money to purchase either a house or a business. Which would you choose to buy? Give specific reasons to explain your choice.
這是個二分法題型，開頭馬上選定一個立場：I would choose to buy a house.
接下來給自己的選擇三個reason，分別論述：
- 房子可以保值甚至增值
- 將房子出租可以變成另一項收入來源
- 買房子能為人生帶來安定感
最後來個總結再度堅定自己的立場，
完成後，一定要留一點時間快速校對一次，不要有錯字！
再更有餘力的話，可以把句子修飾得更pretty。
不過30分鐘要邊打字、邊思考要寫啥真的很趕，能做到改錯字就已經很好了~而且每個人擅長寫的托福TOEFL作文題型都不一樣，這就看同學的托福TOEFL考運了～
以下提供大家托福TOEFL獨立寫作independent writing的題目練習：
（我幫蘇兄訂一週寫兩篇，寫完我再幫他改，第一週可以先不要計時，主要是練習熟悉托福TOEFL寫作結構～把內容寫好，言之有物）
- People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
像這題就沒有要你選邊站，一開頭的寫法就是你認為大家上大學的目的&原因（可能有A、B、C三點），之後再分別深入論述A、B、C各別的reason並舉例，舉例！舉例很重要，既可以衝字數又可以衝分數（舉例可增加說服力），只要是托福TOEFL獨立寫作independent writing不管甚麼題目一定都會要你舉例～（specific reasons、examples、details題目就這幾個字換來換去啊～發現了沒？！）最後別忘記再一段總結囉。
- A person you know is planning to move to your town or city. What do you think this person would like and dislike about living in your town or city? Why? Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay.
這題是選邊站，算是蠻好發揮的，自己住的地盤總要最熟悉吧？如果寫不出來就要檢討自己是不是對家鄉莫不關心或平時缺乏thinking呢？考托福TOEFL除了加強english，也要一併訓練獨立思考跟分析事情的能力。
- Some people spend their entire lives in one place. Others move a number of times throughout their lives, looking for a better job, house, community, or even climate. Which do you prefer: staying in one place or moving in search of another place? Use reasons and specific examples to support your opinion.
也是選邊站，這題也算簡單囉～寫托福TOEFL獨立寫作independent writing有時候不是要寫出同學你真正的看法，哪邊好寫就寫哪邊，別忘了要在30分鐘掰出來300字啊～
接著以下的題目就不多做說明囉，同學有疑問可以留言給我～有時間會盡量詳細回答：
- Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? One should never judge a person by external appearances. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
- Is it more important to be able to work with a group of people on a team or to work independently? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.
- Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Telephones and email have made communication between people less personal. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
- Some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends. Others choose to spend time with a large number of friends. Compare the advantages of each choice. Which of these two ways of spending time do you prefer? Use specific reasons to support your answer.
- Decisions can be made quickly, or they can be made after careful thought. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The decisions that people make quickly are always wrong. Use reasons and specific examples to support your opinion.
- Some people trust their first impressions about a person’s character because they believe these judgments are generally correct. Other people do not judge a person’s character quickly because they believe first impressions are often wrong. Compare these two attitudes. Which attitude do you agree with? Support your choice with specific examples.
- A university plans to develop a new research center in your country. Some people want a center for business research. Other people want a center for research in agriculture (farming). Which of these two kinds of research centers do you recommend for your country? Use specific reasons in your recommendation.
- Some young children spend a great amount of their time practicing sports. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
- Some students prefer to study alone. Others prefer to study with a group of students. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

【最後3個星期】托福TOEFL考試test技巧衝刺期
說明：
以做托福TOEFL模擬考(TPO)為訓練重點，完全進入托福TOEFL正式考模式。
🔵 準備托福TOEFL訓練內容
狂做TPO，每天至少一回托福TOEFL聽listening說speaking讀reading寫writing，每次連續四小時以上不中斷，完全模擬托福TOEFL正式考，並確實檢討。最後這個時期同學就會發現托福TOEFL的考題模式其實很制式，當然平時背的托福TOEFL單字跟文法，就考驗同學能否活用於托福TOEFL考試中了。
準備托福TOEFL差不多就這樣囉～
（講得一副很簡單的樣子XD但過程的艱難只有準備托福TOEFL的人才會懂O_Q）
有志準備托福TOEFL的同學們，可以參考我幫蘇兄制定的托福TOEFL study plan～然後按照自己的Enlish程度去做調整。
蘇兄比較辛苦的是在第一個時期，因為他的english底子比較弱，但語言真的是努力就能獲得回報的東西，而托福TOEFL的考題其實蠻制式，題目做多了就會發現有一定的軌跡可循，所以勤練TPO絕對有幫助！！
⭐ 另外小提醒，托福TOEFL上半場考完中間有休息10分鐘，因為蘇兄托福TOEFL口說弱了些，我告訴他這10分鐘別放空，多多把握，可以隨意練一下托福TOEFL口說，一方面讓嘴巴舌頭暖身，等等要開始說english了～一方面讓english思考接續下去不要中斷，同學們不妨也試試。⭐
